How to draw a slow loris step by step

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: Head top and ears

Draw a wide curved line for the top of the head, like a soft hill. At each end, add a small round loop for an ear, curling down and inward.

  3. Step 3: The body sides

Start under each ear and draw a curved line going down, bulging out a little and then curving in. Make the two lines match and leave the bottom open for now.

  4. Step 4: The big round eyes

Draw two big solid circles in the middle of the face, side by side, with a gap between them. Fill them in completely so they look shiny and wide.

  5. Step 5: The tiny nose

Between the eyes, a little lower down, draw a tiny wavy squiggle. This is the nose and mouth.

  6. Step 6: Two little arms

Near the bottom of the body, draw two short curved lines that bend like the letter J. Each one curls into a small round hand.

  7. Step 7: Tiny fingers

Add a very small short stroke at the tip of each hand for fingers. Keep them tiny.

  8. Step 8: The branch top

Draw a long, slightly bumpy line across the bottom from the left side to the right side, running over the hands. Add a short dash at the left end for the rough, thick part of the branch.

  9. Step 9: Bottom of the branch

Draw a second long line below the first, sloping gently down to the right. Then add a rounded curve underneath the hands, like a shallow bowl, to finish the bottom of the branch.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a slow loris

  • Make the two body lines match each other. Curving them out a little makes the loris look soft and chubby.
  • Draw the two eyes the same size. Try tracing a coin or bottle cap, then fill them in completely.
  • Draw the tiny nose and mouth low and close together between the eyes. Small and simple looks cutest.
  • Draw the hands first and the branch after, so the branch crosses over the hands and the loris looks like it is holding on.

How do I make my slow loris look cuter?

Make the eyes extra big and round, and keep the nose tiny and low on the face. A chubby body makes it even sweeter.

Why is it called a slow loris?
