Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The round helmet
Draw a big circle for the helmet, but stop and leave a small gap at the bottom where the neck ring will go. Make it nice and round, like a giant bubble.
Step 3: The neck ring
Start at one side of the gap and draw a gently curved line across the bottom of the helmet. Then draw a short straight line down from each end and join them with a curved line along the bottom, like a little band.
Step 4: The ring stripe
Draw one more curved line across the middle of the neck ring, from one side to the other. It should bend the same way as the bottom line.
Step 5: The big visor
Inside the helmet, draw a large rounded oval for the visor, a bit like a squished circle. Place it in the middle and slightly toward the right.
Step 6: The shiny glint
Inside the top left of the visor, draw a short curved line, like a little rainbow. Add a small filled dot just below it to make the glass look shiny.
Step 7: The side light
On the left side of the helmet, draw a small circle. Then draw a small solid dot in the middle of it.
Step 8: The antenna
At the top right, draw a short slanted line that starts at the edge of the helmet and goes up and out. Finish it with a small circle on the end.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an astronaut helmet
- Draw the big circle lightly first so you can fix it. The helmet looks best when it is very round.
- Keep the visor oval inside the helmet with space around all sides. Leave a bigger gap on the left than on the right.
- Draw the neck ring with curved lines that all bend the same way. This makes it look like a ring and not a flat box.

How to color your astronaut helmet drawing
Try a silver or light gray helmet with a dark blue or gold visor. For a creative twist, color the visor like a night sky with stars and a tiny planet reflected in it.
Astronaut helmet fun fact for kids
Real astronaut helmets have a gold-coated visor that works like sunglasses. It protects astronauts' eyes from the very bright, unfiltered sunlight in space.
Questions about drawing an astronaut helmet
What shapes do I need to draw an astronaut helmet?
You need a big circle for the helmet and a rounded oval for the visor. A curved, ring-shaped band makes the neck, a small circle with a dot makes the side light, and a small circle on a line makes the antenna.
How do I make my astronaut helmet look shiny?
Add a curved line and a small dot in one corner of the visor. These look like light bouncing off the glass. Leave that area white when you color so it stays bright.
How do I draw the neck ring so it looks round?
Make each line curve slightly downward, like a gentle smile. Use the same curve for the top, the stripe, and the bottom so the ring looks like it wraps around.
