Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Wobbly pickle body
Draw a tall, wobbly oval with little bumps and dents along the sides, like a real pickle's skin. Leave a tiny gap at the top where the cap will go.
Step 3: Cap and shine
At the top of the pickle, draw a short, flat band made of two or three stripes lying side by side. Then add a short curved line and a tiny dot on the left side of the body for a shiny spot.
Step 4: The hanging loop
On top of the cap, draw a tall, skinny loop like a stretched egg. Let both ends of the loop touch the cap so the ornament can hang from a tree.
Step 5: Big round eyes
About halfway down the pickle, draw two big round dots with space between them. Fill them in so they are nice and dark.
Step 6: Cheeks and smile
Under each eye, draw a small oval for a cheek. Then draw a little curvy smile that dips between the two cheeks.
Step 7: The pine sprig
Next to the pickle, draw a long, slightly curved line going up toward the right. Add short slanted lines crossing it in three places, with tiny lines at the tips like needles.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Christmas pickle ornament
- The bumpy pickle outline is the trickiest part. Sketch a smooth oval first, then go over it with small wiggles instead of trying to make all the bumps in one go.
- Keep the cap small and flat. If it is much wider than the top of the pickle, it can look like a hat, so line it up with the top of the body.
- Draw the two eyes at the same height, then place the cheeks just below them. The little smile fits in the gap between the cheeks.

How to color your Christmas pickle ornament drawing
Color the pickle in two or three greens, with a lighter green for the shiny spot, and make the cap gold or silver. Use dark green for the pine sprig. For a creative twist, add glitter glue or tie a real ribbon through the loop.
