Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The hat dome
Start at the top with a big half circle, like a rounded bowl turned upside down. This is the top of the hat.
Step 3: Sides of the face
Under the hat, draw a curved line down the left side, and another curved line down the right side. Each one starts at the edge of the hat and curves in toward the chin, but leave a gap in the middle.
Step 4: Hat band and face
Draw a long, flat rounded rectangle across the bottom of the dome for the hat band, with a little rounded end sticking out on each side. Then add two dots for eyes and a small curved smile.
Step 5: Neck and body
Draw a short curved line under the head for the shoulders. Then draw two long, gently curved lines down from each end to make a tall rounded body, and leave the bottom open.
Step 6: Stool, boots and arm
Draw a flat rectangle under the body for the stool seat and add a slanted leg at each end. Tuck two small rounded boots under the seat, then add a little curved line sticking out from the side of the body for the start of the arm.
Step 7: Fist and fishing rod
Finish the arm with a small round fist at the end of the arm. From the fist, draw a long diagonal line up to a point, then bring a thin line down from that point, curving a little at the bottom.
Step 8: The ice hole
Draw a wide, flat oval on the ground for the hole in the ice. Draw a smaller oval inside it, and add a tiny bobber where the fishing line ends.
Step 9: Coat line
Finish with one straight line down the middle of the coat.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.
