Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The big head
Draw a wide, round shape for the head, a little wider than it is tall, with a gently curved bottom. Leave room underneath for the body.
Step 3: Round ears
Add a small half circle on each top corner of the head, so the ears peek out. Inside each ear, draw a little curved line that follows the edge.
Step 4: The round body
Under the head, draw a rounded bowl shape that starts just below the chin on one side, curves down and around, and comes back up to the chin on the other side. Make it narrower than the head.
Step 5: Two little feet
At the bottom of the body, draw a small flat oval on the left and another on the right. They should touch the bottom edge of the body.
Step 6: Eyes and left whiskers
Draw two small solid dots for eyes, wide apart in the middle of the face. Then on the left cheek, draw two short curved lines that stretch out from the edge of the head.
Step 7: Nose and right whiskers
Between and below the eyes, draw a tiny nose and mouth: a short line down that splits into two little curves, like a small letter y. Then draw two short curved lines on the right cheek to match the left side.
Step 8: Tiny paws
In the middle of the tummy, draw a small circle on the left and a small circle on the right, with a gap between them. These are the paws holding a snack.
Step 9: A yummy seed
Between the two paws, draw a pointy oval like a lemon or a seed, with its tips touching the paws. Finish with one short line across the middle.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a hamster
- Draw the head first and make it wider than it is tall. A wide, round head gives the hamster its cute, squishy look.
- The ears are small half circles on the top corners of the head. Draw a curved line inside each one so they look like real ears.
- The seed in the paws is the trickiest part. Draw the two small circles first, then draw a pointy oval between them that touches both, and add the short line in the middle last.
