Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The pointy head
Start at the left with a little round nose. Draw a long slanted line going up and back from the nose, then add two small zigzag spikes at the top, and a flat chin line underneath.
Step 3: Spiky back and belly
From the top of the head, draw a wavy line of big pointy spikes curving around to the right. Bring the line down the far side and back along the bottom to make the round belly.
Step 4: Two little feet
Draw two small flat ovals under the belly, one on the left and one on the right. Let the tops tuck into the belly line.
Step 5: Eye and nose
Draw a small circle for the eye near the top of the face. Then add a tiny filled dot at the tip of the nose.
Step 6: The mushroom cap
Above the hedgehog, draw a big dome like half a circle. Close the bottom with a flat, slightly curved line.
Step 7: Stem and base
Draw two straight lines going down from the middle of the cap to make the stem. Then draw a small oval at the bottom where the stem sits on the hedgehog's back.
Step 8: Mushroom spots
Draw three small circles on the cap, each a different size. Spread them out so they do not touch the edge.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a hedgehog with a mushroom
- Draw the spikes as a zigzag: go up to a point, then down to a dip, again and again. Slow, short lines are easier than one long wobbly line.
- Make the head line one slanted straight line from the nose, so the face looks pointy and the body looks round.
- Draw the mushroom cap first, then the stem, and stop the stem on the hedgehog's back so it looks like it is being carried.

Hedgehog with a mushroom fun fact for kids
A baby hedgehog is called a hoglet, and a hedgehog can roll itself into a tight ball to protect its soft belly. An adult hedgehog has thousands of spines.
Questions about drawing a hedgehog with a mushroom
What shapes do I need to draw a hedgehog with a mushroom?
You need a half circle for the mushroom cap, two straight lines for the stem, and ovals and circles for the feet, eye, base and spots. The hedgehog body is a rounded shape with a zigzag line for the spikes.
How do I make the spikes look right?
Draw them as a zigzag, with each point a little bigger or smaller than the last. They do not have to match, because real spikes are uneven.
How do I make my hedgehog look cuter?
Make the eye a nice round circle and add a tiny dot for the nose. Round little feet also help.
