How to draw Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer step by step

How to Draw Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The big head

Start with a big, round shape for the head, a little wider at the cheeks and flatter at the bottom. Draw it nice and large in the middle of your page.

  3. Step 3: Body sides

Under the head, draw two curved lines that start at the bottom corners of the head. Let them bulge out a little and then go down, like the sides of a small bean-shaped body.

  4. Step 4: Two little hooves

At the bottom of the two body lines, draw two small rounded hooves and fill them in. Connect the legs with a short squared-off arch between the hooves.

  5. Step 5: Two floppy ears

On each side of the head, near the top, draw a leaf shape that points out and slightly up. Tuck the inner end against the edge of the head.

  6. Step 6: Left antler

On the left side of the top of the head, draw a line that curves up and out. Finish it with a heart-like top made of two soft bumps with a dip between them.

  7. Step 7: Right antler

Do the same on the other side. Start at the top right of the head and curve up into two rounded bumps so it matches the first antler.

  8. Step 8: Two round eyes

Draw two small circles in the middle of the face, side by side, and color them in solid. Keep them the same size and at the same height.

  9. Step 9: Rudolph's nose

Between the eyes and just below them, draw a big oval for the nose. This is what makes him Rudolph, so make it nice and round.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

  • Draw the head first and make it big. Everything else fits around it, so a roomy head makes the whole reindeer look cuter.
  • The antlers are the trickiest part. Draw the curved stem first, then add the two round bumps at the top, and try to make both sides match.
  • Place the nose low and in the center, with the eyes a little higher on each side. Small changes in spacing change how the face looks.
