How to draw a squirrel with an acorn step by step

How to Draw a Squirrel with an Acorn · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The round head

Draw a wide, round shape for the head, a little like a cloud. Make the bottom wider with a puffy cheek sticking out on each side.

  3. Step 3: Two round ears

On top of the head, draw a half circle for each ear, one on the left and one on the right. Add a smaller half circle inside each ear.

  4. Step 4: Eyes and smile

Draw two small dots for eyes, spaced wide apart in the middle of the face. Between them, draw a short line going down, then two little curves from its bottom for a happy smile.

  5. Step 5: The round body

Under the head, draw two curved lines for the tummy. Start each one just below a cheek, let them bulge out to the sides and curve back in toward the bottom. Leave the bottom open for now.

  6. Step 6: Two oval feet

At the bottom of the body, draw two flat ovals side by side for the feet. Leave a small gap between them.

  7. Step 7: The long tail

Start at the top right of the head and draw a long, tall curve going down behind the body. Then draw a second curve inside it so the tail is wide, and end both lines by the right foot.

  8. Step 8: The acorn top

In the middle of the tummy, draw a curved arch like a little hat for the top of the acorn. Add a short, curly stem on top.

  9. Step 9: Paws and acorn bottom

Draw a small oval on each side of the acorn for the paws holding it. Then draw a rounded curve between them for the bottom of the acorn.

  10. Step 10: Tail fur marks

Add three short curved lines inside the tail along its right edge, one near the top, one in the middle and one near the bottom. These make the tail look furry.

  11. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a squirrel with an acorn

  • Draw the head wider than it is tall, with puffy cheeks at the bottom. That wide shape is what makes this squirrel look so round and sweet.
  • The tail is the trickiest part. Draw one long curve first, then add the second curve beside it so the tail stays an even width.
  • Draw the acorn before the paws. Then the paws can sit on the acorn, and it looks like the squirrel is really holding it.
