How to Draw a Kid Picking Apples (Easy Step by Step)
A kid holding up a fresh apple with a basket close by is a happy scene to draw. It is built from simple shapes: a big round head, a rounded body, ovals for shoes and a circle for the apple. Once you can draw those, you can draw the whole picture.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head and body outline
Draw one big rounded shape that starts as a wide dome for the head. Pinch in a little at the chin on both sides, then run the lines straight down for the body and close it with a flat line at the bottom.
Step 3: Chin line and raised arm
Draw a gentle curved line across the bottom of the head for the chin. Then draw one long curved line on the right side, going up and out from the shoulder for the raised arm.
Step 4: The overalls
Draw two straight straps going down from the neck. Add a wide band across the middle, then draw a small rounded rectangle below it for the pocket.
Step 5: Legs and shoes
Under the body, draw two short lines going down for legs. At the bottom of each one, draw a wide flat oval for a shoe.
Step 6: The basket
On the left, draw a basket that is a little wider at the top, with a flat rim and a few lines across it. Add a curved handle rising from the top left of the basket.
Step 7: Face, arm and apple
Draw two round dots for eyes and a curved smile. Draw the other arm reaching from the body to the basket handle, then add straight up-and-down lines on the basket for weaving. Finish with an apple in the raised hand: a circle with a little stem and a leaf, and a small circle under it for the hand.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid picking apples
- Draw the head and body as one shape first, and leave room on the left for the basket and on the right for the raised arm.
- The raised arm is one long curved line. Start it at the shoulder and let it lean up and out to the right.
- For the basket, draw the rim and the lines across first, then add the up-and-down weaving lines last. Do not worry if they look a little bumpy.
