How to Draw a City Street · tinyhandscreate.com
Step 1: Ground and wheels
Draw one long straight line across the bottom of your paper. Near the right end, draw two small circles sitting on the line for wheels, and a tiny straight line standing up above them.
Step 2: The little shop
Draw a box shape on the left of the line: go up, across the bottom, and up again, leaving the top open. Then add a small square inside the bottom for the door.
Step 3: Awning and sign
Draw a wide flat shape across the top of the shop, with a wavy bumpy line along its bottom edge. Then draw a long, flat rectangle sitting on top for the shop sign.
Step 4: The back building
Start at the right side of the awning and draw a line going right, then turn down in a corner. Above it, draw a line going up, across to the right, to make the top of a taller building.
Step 5: The car body
Draw a squishy dome shape like half a bean for the car body, with a bump at the front and back. Start and end it at the two wheels so it sits on the ground line.
Step 6: The car window line
Draw a short flat line across the middle of the car, crossing the small upright line, to make the window.
Step 7: The street lamp
Draw a tall straight line standing up from the ground on the left. At the top, draw a small cup shape that opens wider at the top, like a lantern.
Step 8: A happy face
In the sky above the shop, draw two round dots for eyes. Between them draw a tiny wavy smile.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a city street
- Draw the long ground line first and keep your hand moving slowly so it stays straight. Every other part sits on it.
- The wavy edge of the awning is the trickiest part. Make a row of small, equal bumps, like drawing a few little rainbows side by side.
- Draw the two wheel circles on the ground line at the start, then build the car dome over them later so it lands right on the wheels.

How to color your city street drawing
Try a striped red and white awning, a yellow car, and a warm yellow glow in the lamp. For a creative twist, color the sky as a sunset and give the street lamp a bright light.
City street fun fact for kids
Many old city streets used gas lamps, and a person called a lamplighter walked around each evening to light them one by one.
