How to draw a rooster step by step

How to Draw a Rooster · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Body and tail curve

Start near the top left and draw a big curve down and around to make the round belly. Let the line sweep up to the right and end in a small flick for the tail.

  2. Step 2: The head

Draw a round head above the left end of the body, with a small dot for the eye. Add a little loop hanging under the chin for the wattle.

  3. Step 3: Neck and big tail

Start at the back of the head and draw a long slanted line down to the right. Then curve up into a tall leaf shape for the big tail feather, and bring it back down to a point.

  4. Step 4: Little tail feathers

Draw one long curved feather along the right side of the big tail. Add a small curl at the bottom that points out to the right.

  5. Step 5: The beak

Draw a small triangle sticking out from the front of the head for the beak. Start and end it on the face.

  6. Step 6: The comb

On top of the head, draw a wavy crown with a few round bumps. Close the bottom so it sits on the head.

  7. Step 7: The wing

In the middle of the body, draw a rounded oval that is pointy on the left. It can look like a lemon on its side.

  8. Step 8: Two skinny legs

Draw two short straight lines going down from the bottom of the body. Keep them about the same length and a little apart.

  9. Step 9: Chicken feet

At the bottom of each leg, draw a curvy line with a few bumps, like a tiny hill. Let the two feet nearly touch in the middle.

  10. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a rooster

  • Start with the body curve and leave room above the left end. Then the head has a clear place to sit and the neck line joins up neatly.
  • The big tail is the trickiest part. Draw the neck line slowly, then swing up into a tall leaf shape and come back down to a point in one smooth curve.
  • For the comb, think of a few little clouds in a row. Make the bumps different sizes so it looks wavy.
