Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head and left ear
Start with a big, wide circle for the head, a little rounder at the top. Leave a small gap at the bottom, and add a small oval ear on the top left.
Step 3: Horn and right ear
Draw a tall, skinny triangle on top of the head for the horn, with a little curved band at its base. Add a small oval ear on the top right to match the left one.
Step 4: The wavy mane
On the left side of the head, draw three bumpy loops one under the other, like a row of soft clouds hugging the head.
Step 5: Smile and eyes
Put two round dots for eyes in the middle of the face, then draw a happy curved smile between and below them.
Step 6: Bottom of the body
Under the head, draw the sides and the curved bottom of the costume, like a bowl. Leave the top open for now, and add a few tiny tick marks along the bottom.
Step 7: Shoulders and arms
Draw a wavy line across the top of the body for the shoulders. Then add a long oval arm on each side, with a small circle at the end of the left arm for a hand.
Step 8: Feet and tail
Under the body, draw two flat ovals side by side for the feet. On the right, draw a long curved tail that swoops out and up, with a little swish at the tip.
Step 9: The magic wand
Beside the head on the right, draw a thin, slightly slanted line. Put a small star at the top and a little ring at the bottom end.
Step 10: Star on the tummy
Finish with a five-point star in the middle of the costume. Draw it as one outline with five points.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid in a unicorn costume
- Draw the head circle big and light first, so the ears, horn and mane have room to sit around it.
- The star is the trickiest part. Take your time and draw one point at a time until you have five.
- For the tail, draw one long curve out and one curve back, so the two lines meet in a pointy end.
