How to Draw a Bearded Dragon (Easy Step by Step)
A bearded dragon is a fun drawing because it is built from simple shapes: a pointy arch for the head, a big wiggly oval for the body, and bendy tube shapes for the arms, legs, and curly tail. The zigzag edges make it look like a real desert lizard. We draw it from above, so both sides match.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head outline
Draw a curved arch like a pointy hill at the top of your page. Then wiggle the line down on both sides in little zigzag bumps, like a spiky beard. Leave the bottom open.
Step 3: Body and tail
Under the head, draw a curved line for the chin that joins the two sides. Then draw a big wiggly oval for the belly. At the bottom, let the line stretch out into a long tail that curls like a swoosh.
Step 4: Front arms
On each side of the chest, draw a bent arm that reaches out and then down, like a bendy sleeve. Use two lines for each arm so it has some thickness.
Step 5: Back legs
Near the bottom of the body, draw two curved legs that bend out to the sides and then down. Use two lines for each leg, just like the arms.
Step 6: The eyes
Add two small round dots on the head, side by side and a little above the middle. Make them nice and dark.
Step 7: Fingers and toes
At the end of each arm and leg, draw a few short lines that spread out like a tiny fan. These are the little toes that grip the rocks.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a bearded dragon
- Sketch the body as a light oval first, so the wiggly edges sit evenly on both sides.
- Draw both arms before you draw the legs, and try to make each pair bend the same way so your lizard looks balanced.
- The tail is the trickiest part. Start wide near the body, then let it curve around and get thinner at the tip.
