Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The main body
Draw a wide rectangle with slightly rounded corners near the bottom left. This is the big box the whole crane sits on.
Step 3: The tracks
Under the body, draw a long, flat pill shape with rounded ends, like a stadium running track. It should be a little wider than the body.
Step 4: Three wheels
Inside the track, draw three small circles in a row, spaced evenly. Keep them about the same size.
Step 5: The cab
On top of the body at the left, draw a tall rectangle with rounded top corners. Then draw a smaller rectangle inside near the top for the window.
Step 6: The long boom
From the right end of the body, draw two slanted lines going up and to the right, side by side. Join them at the top with a short cap, and add a short bar across the boom partway up. Then draw a straight line going down from the top of the boom for the rope.
Step 7: Boom details
Near the top of the boom, draw one more short bar across it and a small slanted line beside it next to the rope. Then add two tiny slanted lines where the boom meets the body.
Step 8: The wrecking ball
At the bottom of the rope, draw a big circle. Make sure the rope touches the top of the circle.
Step 9: The happy face
Inside the ball, draw two small dots for eyes. Under them, draw a curved smile like a little bowl.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a wrecking ball crane
- Draw the boom lines slowly and keep them parallel, like two railroad tracks tilted up. Use a ruler edge as a guide if the lines wobble.
- Make the rope a straight line that goes down from the top of the boom. Draw the ball after the rope so it hangs right at the end.
- Space the three wheels evenly inside the track. Lightly mark the middle wheel first, then add one on each side.
