Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head and body outline
Draw one big, plump rounded shape for the head and body together, with a lumpy bottom. Add a small round bump on the top left for the first ear, and leave a gap on the right side for now.
Step 3: The second ear
Draw a tiny curved arch on the top right of the head for the other ear.
Step 4: The school backpack
On the left side of the body, draw a rounded, bean-shaped bag sticking out. Start at the top, curve out and down, and finish where it meets the body.
Step 5: Pack strap and arm
Draw a short curved band across the bottom of the backpack for its strap. Then draw a long, gentle curve from the top of the backpack across the body, ending in the middle of the tummy.
Step 6: The sleepy face
Draw a short, fat dash for the eye. Then draw a short up-and-down line with a tiny hook at the top for the nose, and add a tiny dot beside it on the right.
Step 7: The apple
On top of the head, draw a round apple shape with a little dip in the middle at the top. Leave the bottom open where it sits on the head.
Step 8: The apple stem
Add a short slanted line sticking up from the dip in the apple for its stem.
Step 9: One side of the pencil
Near the tummy, draw a long, slim slanted line going from the upper right down to the lower left. Finish it with a tiny pointed tip at the bottom.
Step 10: Pencil and paws
Draw a second slanted line beside the first to finish the pencil, and a small curved line on the tummy for one paw. Then add a couple of little loops at the top of the pencil for the paw holding on.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

- Keep the face small, with a short dash for the eye and a short line for the nose, to make it look extra sleepy.
