Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Head outline
Near the top right of your paper, draw the top of a dog's head in one curved line. Keep going down the front with a small bump for the snout, a tiny nose bump, and a short line down for the chin.
Step 3: Long back and tail
Start a little to the left of the head and draw one long, nearly straight line going left, like a sausage back. At the left end, add a small pointed tail that flicks up and then hooks down.
Step 4: The floppy ear
At the back of the head, where the back line meets it, draw a tall oval hanging down, a bit like a teardrop. Fill it in solid so it stands out.
Step 5: The eyes
Add two small round dots on the face, in front of the ear. Keep them small and close to the snout.
Step 6: The bun bottom
Under the dog, draw a big, wide U shape like a bowl. Start at the dog's tail end on the left, curve down and around, and finish by the dog's chest on the right.
Step 7: Bun front edge
Draw a gently curved line across the middle of the bun for the front edge. Add short curved lines at the left and right ends where the bun folds up.
Step 8: Paw and bun fold
On the right side, under the dog's chin, draw a short wobbly hook for a paw resting on the bun. Add two short curved lines beside it for the bun's edge.
Step 9: Wavy mustard
Draw one long squiggly line that goes up and down like ocean waves. Start on the left side of the bun and wiggle across to the right, keeping the waves about the same size.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a dachshund in a hot dog bun
- Draw the back line long and almost straight before you add the tail. A straight back is what makes it look like a dachshund.
- The big bun is the tricky part, so sketch a wide, flat oval lightly first to guide you. Leave plenty of room at the top for the dog to sit in.
- Practice the mustard wave on scrap paper first. Try to keep the up and down bumps about the same size.

Questions about drawing a dachshund in a hot dog bun
What shapes do I need to draw a dachshund in a hot dog bun?
You need a curved head outline, a long straight line for the back, a big bowl shape for the bun, and a wavy line for the mustard. A teardrop shape makes the floppy ear.
How do I make my hot dog dachshund look cuter?
Keep the eyes small and round, and close to the snout. A big, dark floppy ear adds a lot of charm.
How do I make the dog look long like a dachshund?
Make the back much longer than the head and keep the back line nearly flat. The bun hides the short legs, so you do not need to draw them.
