How to draw a bird nest step by step

How to Draw a Bird Nest · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: The branch

Draw a long, bent branch shape. Start with a rounded end at the bottom left, curve up and to the right, then stretch a long line to the right. Add a short line going up from the bend.

  2. Step 2: Nest twigs and rim

Above the branch, draw a wavy line for the top rim of the nest. Add lots of short, scribbly twig lines under it and at the sides, with a pointy bunch of twigs sticking up on the left.

  3. Step 3: Three eggs

Draw three upside-down U shapes in a row along the wavy rim, so the eggs peek over the top. Make them about the same size.

  4. Step 4: Curved weaving lines

Draw a few long curved lines across the nest, following its round shape. Let them cross over the twigs.

  5. Step 5: Two leaves and nest edge

Draw a pointy leaf shape at the top left. Draw a small leaf at the right end of the branch, then add a curved line along the bottom of the nest.

  6. Step 6: Branch shine line

Near the bottom left end of the branch, draw one short, thin curved line inside it. It makes the branch look smooth and round.

  7. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a bird nest

  • Start with the long branch so the nest has something to sit on.
  • Make the three eggs peek over the wavy rim with U shapes. If one looks too small, just draw the next one a bit bigger.
  • For the weaving, draw the long curved lines after the eggs. Messy twig lines look just like a real nest.
