Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big round head
Draw a big circle for the head, a little wider than it is tall. Leave room above it for the ears and plenty of room below it for the body.
Step 3: Bottom of the tummy
Far below the head, draw a short curve that bows downward, like a gentle smile. This is the bottom of the round tummy.
Step 4: Round ears
Draw a small circle on each upper corner of the head, tucked against the outline, for the ears. Then draw a smaller circle inside each ear.
Step 5: Eye patches
Draw two tilted ovals on the face, one on each side, leaning toward the middle. These are the panda's famous eye patches.
Step 6: Face, tummy and bamboo
Draw a small dot inside each eye patch and a rounded nose with a short line down the middle. Then finish the round tummy sides down to the curve, and draw a slanted bamboo stick across the tummy from lower left to upper right.
Step 7: Arm and feet
Draw a tall oval on the left side of the body for the arm. Then add two wide ovals at the bottom of the tummy for the feet.
Step 8: Paws on the bamboo
Draw a small curved paw at the lower end of the bamboo. Then draw a curved arm and paw on the right side of the tummy, hooking up toward the stick.
Step 9: Bamboo leaves
At the top end of the bamboo, draw three pointy leaf shapes, like long, skinny ovals with sharp tips.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a baby panda
- Draw the head circle lightly at first. That way you can fix it before you add the face.
- The eye patches are the trickiest part. Tilt both ovals the same amount, so the top of each one leans toward the middle of the face.
- Keep the bamboo stick the same thickness all the way along. Then add the paws so they look like they are gripping it.

Baby panda fun fact for kids
A giant panda has an extra wrist bone that works a bit like a thumb, which helps it grip bamboo stalks while it eats.
