Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Sides of the head
Draw two curved lines that make the left and right sides of a big round head. Start each one near the top, curve it down and in, and stop before the bottom so the head stays open at the top and the bottom.
Step 3: The wide-brim hat
Draw a long, flat oval across the top of the head for the brim. Then add a half circle on top for the crown, and a curved band around its bottom.
Step 4: Collar and vest front
Under the head, draw a short flat line with a small hook turning down at each end. Then draw two long lines that start in the middle and slant down close together for the front of the vest.
Step 5: The shorts
Below the vest lines, draw a wide U shape with short straight sides and a gently curved bottom. This is the bottom of the body.
Step 6: An arm and hand
On the right side of the vest, draw a curved line that bends down from the shoulder. Finish it with a small circle at the bottom for the hand.
Step 7: Two oval shoes
Draw two wide, flat ovals at the bottom, side by side so they overlap a little in the middle, like a sideways number eight.
Step 8: A little belt clip
In the middle of the shorts, near the top, draw a small U-shaped line with two tiny ends pointing up.
Step 9: Face, arm and details
Add two dots for eyes and a curved smile. Then draw the other arm and hand to match the first, a line across for the belt, two small square pockets and a tiny badge on the vest, and two short lines for legs between the shorts and the shoes.
