How to Draw a Caveman (Easy Step by Step)
This caveman is a cheerful little guy with curly hair, a headband, a bone above his head and a big spotted club. He is built from simple shapes: circles, ovals, a box and a few wavy lines. It is a great first people drawing because the face is just two dots and a smile.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Head and curly hair
Draw a big round head, a little wider than it is tall. Make the top bumpy like a cloud for the curly hair, and leave a small gap at the bottom where the neck will go.
Step 3: Body and neck
Under the head, draw a box that is a little wavy along the bottom, like a short tunic. Add a tiny scribble where the box meets the head for the neck, and start a small curl on the right side for the arm.
Step 4: The headband
Draw a gently wavy line straight across the head, from one side to the other, for the headband.
Step 5: Arms
Draw a curved arm along the left side of the body. On the right side, draw the other arm curving out from the shoulder toward the hand.
Step 6: Spots, hem and feet
Draw three small circles on the tunic for spots. Make a zigzag line along the bottom edge, then add two wide ovals underneath for feet that touch in the middle. Add a small hand at the end of the left arm.
Step 7: The big club
Draw a small circle for the hand on the right side. From it, draw a long, thin handle going up and out, and finish with a big egg shape at the top for the club head.
Step 8: Face
Draw two small dots for eyes. Under them, add a short curved smile line.
Step 9: The bone
Above the head on the left, draw a long, thin tilted bone. Add two little bumps at each end.
Step 10: Strap and club spots
Draw a slanted line across the tunic from the neck for the strap. Then add two small circles on the club head for spots.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a caveman
- Draw the head circle first and keep it big. The curly hair, headband and face all fit on it.
- The zigzag hem looks tricky, but it is just a row of small points. Draw it slowly, up and down.
- Make the club handle long and thin, then add the egg-shaped head at the very top.
- Draw the bone at a slant so it looks like it is resting above the head.
