How to Draw a Calendar (Easy Step by Step)
A calendar is a great first drawing because it is mostly straight lines and boxes. You will start with a rounded square, add two oval rings, and fill the page with a neat grid. A circled day marks something special, and a folded corner makes the page look real.

Step 1: The calendar page
Draw a big square with softly rounded corners, leaving two small gaps along the top edge where the rings will sit. Cut off the bottom right corner with a short slanted line.
Step 2: Two binder rings
In each gap on the top edge, draw a tall skinny oval that pokes up above the page. The bottom of each oval dips down just inside the page.
Step 3: The header line
Draw a straight line from the left side of the page to the right side, a little below the rings. This makes the top strip where the month name would go.
Step 4: Lines going down
Draw four straight lines from the header line down to the bottom edge. Space them evenly so you get five tall columns.
Step 5: Lines going across
Draw three straight lines from the left edge to the right edge, spaced evenly below the header. Now your page is full of little boxes for the days.
Step 6: The circled day
In the middle box of the second row, draw a small circle that fits inside the box. Then draw a tiny round dot in the center of the circle.
Step 7: The folded corner
At the bottom right corner, draw a small folded flap. Start at the left end of the slanted corner line, curve across and down to meet the slanted line near the bottom, so the page looks like it is peeling up.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a calendar
- Draw the grid lines with a ruler or the edge of a card if your lines wobble. Even spacing makes the boxes look tidy.
- Start each line at the edge of the page and stop exactly at the opposite edge. That way the boxes close up with no gaps.
- The folded corner is the trickiest part. Look at the slanted corner line you drew in the first step, then add the small flap so it meets that line.

How to color your calendar drawing
Try red for the header strip, light yellow for the page, and a bright color inside the circled day. For a creative twist, color each column a different shade, or draw tiny birthday cakes in some boxes.
Calendar fun fact for kids
The word "month" comes from the word "moon." Long ago, people based months on the moon's cycle, which takes about 29 and a half days.
Questions about drawing a calendar
What shapes do I need to draw a calendar?
You need a rounded square for the page, two tall ovals for the rings, and straight lines for the grid. A small circle with a dot and a little folded flap finish it off.
How do I make my calendar grid look neat?
Mark equal spaces along the edges with tiny dots first, then connect the dots with straight lines. A ruler helps a lot.
How can I make my calendar look more fun?
Circle a special day, add little doodles in the boxes, and color the header strip a bright color. You can also write the month name on the top strip.
