How to Draw a Beach Ball (Easy Step by Step)
A beach ball is a great first drawing because it is mostly one big circle with curved lines inside. The stripes all start at one small circle and spread out like the slices of an orange. If you can draw a circle and a few bendy lines, you can draw this.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big circle
Draw a big round circle that fills most of your page. Take your time and let your hand go around in one smooth loop.
Step 3: Top of the valve
Near the top of the ball, draw a small upside-down U shape. This is the top half of the air plug.
Step 4: Finish the valve
Start at one end of the little U and curve along the bottom to the other end. Now you have a small circle, the air plug.
Step 5: Left top stripe
Start at the left side of the little circle and draw a gentle curve that sweeps out to the edge of the ball on the left.
Step 6: Right top stripe
Start at the right side of the little circle and draw a long, soft curve out to the right edge of the ball.
Step 7: Left bottom stripe
Start at the bottom left of the little circle and draw a curved line down to the lower left edge of the ball.
Step 8: Middle stripe
Start at the bottom of the little circle and draw a line that bends a little as it goes down to the bottom of the ball.
Step 9: Right bottom stripe
Start at the bottom right of the little circle and draw a long curve down and across to the lower right edge of the ball.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a beach ball
- Draw the big circle first, then add the small circle near the top. It is easier to fit the stripes in when the outside shape is already there.
- Let every stripe start from the little air plug circle. If the lines all begin in the same spot, the ball will look round and puffy.
- Curve each stripe a little instead of making it straight. If one looks too flat, draw it again with a softer bend.

Beach balls are filled with air, so they are very light and float on water.
Questions about drawing a beach ball
What shapes do I need to draw a beach ball?
You need one big circle, one small circle for the air plug, and a few curved lines. The curved lines start at the small circle and end at the edge of the big circle.
How do I make my beach ball look round?
Curve the stripes so they bend with the shape of the ball instead of going straight. Making them all start at the little circle helps the ball look like it bulges out.
How big should the little circle be?
Make it small compared with the big circle, about the size of a coin on a full page. A small plug leaves lots of room for the stripes.
