  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The board

Draw a tall, pointy egg shape standing up. Start with a point at the top, curve down both sides, and round off the bottom.

  3. Step 3: The center stripe

Inside the board, near the bottom, draw a tall skinny rectangle with round corners, like a pill.

  4. Step 4: The flower

Near the top of the board, draw five small round petals in a circle, like a tiny puffy cloud ring.

  5. Step 5: The flower middle

Fill the center of the flower with a little star or splash shape where the petals meet.

  6. Step 6: The fin

Under the bottom of the board, draw a small fin with two short curved lines that start at the board and meet in a point below it.

  7. Step 7: The wave and water

On the left, draw a big curved hill that tips over at the top like a wave. Then draw a wiggly line across the bottom for the water, joining the wave and passing across the tip of the fin.

  8. Step 8: The wave curl

Inside the wave, draw one short curved line that follows the shape of the big wave, like a little rainbow.

  9. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a surfboard

  • Start the board with the point at the top, then draw both sides down together. This helps keep the two sides matching.
  • Draw the five flower petals as small circles that touch each other. If one is lopsided, that is fine, because real flowers are not perfect.
  • Make the water line wiggle gently and let it cross the tip of the fin, so the board looks like it is standing in the sea.

Surfboard fun fact for kids

Surfboards have fins on the bottom. The fins work a bit like the fins on a fish and help the board go straight and turn smoothly in the water.
