How to Draw a Llama (Easy Step by Step)
A llama is a fun animal to draw because it is made from simple shapes you already know: rounded blobs, long curved lines, and wiggly bumps. The long neck makes it look tall and silly, and the fluffy back and dotted blanket give it lots of personality. By the end you will have a friendly llama standing on four skinny legs.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Head with one ear
Draw a small rounded blob near the top right of your page, a little wider than it is tall. Add a bump on top for one ear, a dot for the eye, and a tiny curved line at the front for the nose.
Step 3: The second ear
Draw a small rounded loop on the top left of the head, next to the first ear. Close it so it looks like a little bump sticking up.
Step 4: Neck and fluffy back
Start under the chin and draw two long, gently curved lines down for the neck. Then draw a row of small bumps along the back, and curve the lines down the front and back of the body for the wool.
Step 5: Four long legs
Under the body, draw four tall, skinny legs with rounded bottoms for feet. Draw them in two pairs, with a small gap between each leg.
Step 6: The little tail
At the back of the body, draw a small rounded loop for the tail. Let it touch the fluffy wool.
Step 7: The saddle blanket
On the middle of the body, draw a rectangle with a flat top and rounded corners. Make the bottom edge wavy, with a few round scallops.
Step 8: Blanket dots
Add three small dots in a row inside the blanket, just above the wavy edge.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a llama
- The neck is the trickiest part. Draw both neck lines so they lean the same way, and keep them about the same distance apart all the way down.
- For the fluffy back, think of drawing a row of small bumps. Let each bump touch the next one.
- Draw the four legs about the same length, then check that the feet line up at the bottom. Small differences are fine.

Llama fun fact for kids
Llamas hum to each other. A mother llama hums to her baby, and llamas also hum when they are curious or worried.
