Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The big round head
Draw a wide oval for the mouse's head, a little wider than it is tall. Leave room above it for ears and room below for the body.
Step 3: Two round ears
Draw a big circle on each top corner of the head, tucked behind it so the head overlaps them. Then add a smaller circle inside each ear.
Step 4: The round tummy
Under the head, draw a rounded body shaped like an egg or a big bean. Start at the bottom of the head, curve out and down on both sides, and finish with a flat line along the bottom.
Step 5: Two little feet
At the bottom of the body, draw a small curved line on the left and one on the right. Each one starts at the tummy, curves down and around like the bottom of a little oval, so the feet poke out below the tummy.
Step 6: Eyes, nose, and smile
Draw two small dots for eyes, spaced apart in the middle of the face. Put a slightly bigger dot for the nose between and below them, then draw a curved smile underneath.
Step 7: Whiskers
Draw two long whiskers on each side of the face, starting near the cheeks and sweeping outward. Make the top one tilt up a little and the bottom one curve down.
Step 8: Cheese and paws
Draw a triangle-shaped wedge of cheese on the tummy, with its slanted top running from lower left to upper right. Add a small circle paw at each end of the slanted line, then finish with three little holes in the cheese.
Step 9: A curly tail
On the right side, start a long curved line at the bottom of the body. Sweep it out and up, then end with a little curl at the top.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a mouse
- Draw the head oval first and lightly, then tuck each ear circle behind it. The ears look best when the head overlaps them, so stop the ear lines where they touch the head.
- The cheese is the trickiest part. Start with the slanted top line, then add the paws at each end, and the rest of the wedge is easy to finish.
- Draw the whiskers after the eyes, nose, and smile so they do not crowd the face. Try to make both sides match by starting each pair at the same height.

How to color your mouse drawing
Try soft gray or light brown for the mouse, pink inside the ears, and bright yellow for the cheese. For a fun twist, make a rainbow mouse with a different color on each ear and foot.
Mouse fun fact for kids
A mouse's front teeth never stop growing, so mice chew on things all day to keep them from getting too long.
