How to Draw a Fairy (Easy Step by Step)
A fairy is a happy mix of simple shapes: a round head with a little bun, a triangle dress, and four leaf-shaped wings. Once the shapes are in place, a tiny star wand and a smiling face bring her to life. It is a great first character to draw because almost every part is round or curved.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head and hair bun
Draw a big circle for the head, a little flat at the bottom for the chin. Add a small rounded bump on top for the hair bun.
Step 3: Dress and legs
Start just under the chin and draw two lines that slant outward, like a triangle. Finish the bottom with a wavy, bumpy edge for the skirt, then add two short straight lines hanging down for legs.
Step 4: The top wings
Draw a big rounded leaf shape on each side of the head, starting at the side of the head and curving out and back in near the neck. Make the left and right wings about the same size.
Step 5: The lower wings
Draw a smaller round wing on each side of the skirt, tucked behind the dress. Add a short curved line inside each one.
Step 6: Arm and magic wand
Draw a short arm reaching out from the right side of the dress. Add a thin wand with a tiny circle on it, and top it with a small star.
Step 7: The shoes
At the bottom end of each leg line, draw a flat oval for a shoe.
Step 8: Hair and face
Draw curved lines across the top of the head for the hair and bangs. Add two round dots for eyes and a small smile between them.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a fairy
- Draw the head circle first and leave room on both sides, so the big wings do not get squeezed against the edge of the paper.
- Draw the two top wings one after the other, left then right, and check that they end up about the same size.
- The star is the trickiest part. Keep it small, and try making five dots in a ring first, then connect every other dot with straight lines.

How to color your fairy drawing
Try pink or purple for the dress and light blue for the wings, with yellow for the star and the wand. The hair can be any color you like, from golden to bright purple.
Fairy fun fact for kids
The word fairy comes from the old French word faerie, which meant enchantment or magic. Long ago it described the magical land and its beings, not just the tiny winged creatures we picture today.
Questions about drawing a fairy
What shapes do I need to draw a fairy?
You need a circle for the head, a triangle with a wavy bottom for the dress, and four leaf shapes for the wings. Add two short lines and two ovals for the legs and shoes, and a small star for the wand.
How do I make my fairy look cuter?
Put the eyes wide apart and low on the face, and keep the smile small. A big round head compared to a small body also makes her look sweet.
How do I draw wings that match?
Draw one wing, then picture a line down the middle of the fairy and copy it on the other side. Start both wings at the same height on the head.
