  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The bow knot

Near the top middle, draw a small rounded square. Then add a short curved line sticking out from the left side and another from the right side.

  3. Step 3: The two bow loops

Start at the top of the knot and draw a big puffy loop out to the left that curves back to the bottom of the knot. Do the same on the right side so the bow has two matching loops.

  4. Step 4: The ribbon tails

From the bottom of the knot, draw two ribbon strips hanging down in a V shape. Finish each strip with a zigzag notch at the bottom, and add a short line down the middle where the strips meet.

  5. Step 5: Left bell sides

Under the ribbon, start at the left end of the bow and draw a long curve that swoops out and down to a wide flare on the left. Then draw a second line near the middle that goes down and curves left along the bottom.

  6. Step 6: Right bell sides

On the right, draw a long curve from the ribbon that swoops out and down to a wide flare, matching the left side. Then draw a line down the middle that curves right along the bottom, so the two bells touch in the center.

  7. Step 7: The bell rims

At the bottom of each bell, draw a long curved line across the flare to make the opening. Add a second curve right beside it so each rim looks like a thin crescent.

  8. Step 8: The clappers

On each bell's rim, draw a small circle for the clapper. Let it sit on the curve of the opening, a little toward the outside of each bell.

  9. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Christmas bells with a bow

  • Draw the bow loops about the same size on both sides. Try making the left one first, then copy its height and width on the right.
  • The two bells touch in the middle. Draw the right bell second so you can see where the left bell ends.
  • Make the clappers simple circles. If a circle comes out wobbly, it still looks like a real bell clapper.

Try gold or silver for the bells and bright red for the bow, with a little green on the ribbon tails. For a creative twist, add sparkles or tiny holly leaves around the bow.

Christmas bells with a bow fun fact for kids

Many bells ring because of a clapper, a small weight that hangs inside and swings against the bell's edge. That is why we draw a round clapper at the opening of each bell.

Questions about drawing Christmas bells with a bow

What shapes do I need to draw Christmas bells?

You need a small square for the bow knot, two puffy loops for the bow, and two flared bell shapes like upside-down cups. Add two small circles for the clappers.

How do I make my bells look more real?

Draw a curved opening at the bottom of each bell and set the clapper circle on the rim. A second curve beside the rim line also makes the bells look solid.

How do I make the bow look even on both sides?

Draw the knot first and build each loop out from it. Check that both loops reach about the same height before adding the ribbon tails.
