Step 1: Curved roof top
Start low on the left with a little curl, then draw a big rounded arch up to a soft point in the middle and down the other side. Finish with a small curl at the right end, like a hat with rounded corners.
Step 2: The two walls
Draw one straight line going down from just inside each curl of the roof. Make both lines the same length.
Step 3: Wavy icing
Along the bottom edge of the roof, draw a row of little scallops, like a wavy curtain. Each scallop is a small smile shape that joins the next one, and the row stretches from one wall to the other.
Step 4: The ground line
Draw one flat line across the bottom, connecting the ends of the two walls. Now your house has a floor to stand on.
Step 5: Round window
Draw a small circle in the middle of the roof, near the top. Make it a nice round ring.
Step 6: The arched door
In the middle of the house, draw a tall door that looks like a tunnel: two straight sides with a round arch on top. Start both sides at the ground line.
Step 7: Heart and small arches
Draw a tiny heart in the upper part of the door, with two bumps on top and a point at the bottom. Then draw a small arch on each side of the door, like a half circle sitting on the ground line.
Step 8: Candy canes
Next to each side of the house, draw a tall straight line standing on the ground. At the top of each one, curl a small hook, and make the two hooks point away from the house.
Step 9: Gumdrop dots
On the roof, draw two small filled dots, one on each side of the round window and a little lower. Fill them in solid, like gumdrop candies.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a gingerbread house
- Draw the roof first and keep its two sides about the same size, so the house does not tip over.
- The icing waves are the trickiest part. Draw them as a row of small smiles, and make each one about the same size.
- Start the door and the small arches at the ground line and curve up and over, so they look like they are sitting on the floor.
