A baby flamingo is a fun drawing because it is mostly simple shapes stacked together. You will use a puffy, bumpy oval for the body, two curvy lines for the neck, a circle for the head, and a bent banana for the beak. The tucked-up leg gives your bird a happy, resting pose.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Body and neck line
Draw a big, round, bumpy shape with little scallops all the way around, like a puffy cotton ball. Then, from the top left of the body, draw one long curvy line going up for the front of the neck.
Step 3: The long neck
Draw a second curvy line beside the first one, starting at the top of the neck and curving down to the body. Now the neck is a long, wide ribbon.
Step 4: The round head
At the top of the neck, draw a small circle for the head. Then draw a short line going out from the left side of the head, where the beak will start.
Step 5: The curved beak
Draw a curved line from the top of the head that bends down to the left, like a banana. Finish it with a small filled-in round tip at the end of the beak.
Step 6: The eye
Color in a small dot inside the head circle, near the middle. That dot makes the eye.
Step 7: The wing
In the middle of the body, draw a pointy leaf shape, like a lemon lying on its side. This is the wing.
Step 8: Feather lines
Inside the wing, draw two short slanted lines side by side. They show the feathers.
Step 9: Legs and feet
Draw one straight line down from the bottom of the body for the standing leg, with a short curved line across the bottom for the foot. Then, on the right, draw a short bent line tucked up under the body, ending in a little pointed foot.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a baby flamingo
- The neck is the trickiest part. Draw the first curvy line slowly, then copy its curve with a second line so the neck stays about the same width.
- For the fluffy body, make small bumps one at a time instead of one long wiggly line. Aim for bumps that are about the same size.
- Draw the beak with a gentle bend, curving down to a round tip. Keep the tucked leg short and skinny, with a sharp bend.

How to color your baby flamingo drawing
Color the body and neck a soft pink, the beak pink with a dark tip, and the wing a deeper pink. For a creative twist, give your flamingo a bright rainbow wing or draw a pond of blue water around its leg.
Baby flamingo fun fact for kids
Flamingos are born with gray or white feathers, not pink. They turn pink over a couple of years because of the natural pigments in the food they eat, like tiny shrimp and algae.
Questions about drawing a baby flamingo
What shapes do I need to draw a baby flamingo?
You need a bumpy oval for the body, two curvy lines for the neck, a circle for the head, and a bent banana shape for the beak. The wing is a pointy leaf shape and the legs are thin lines.
How do I make my flamingo look cuter?
Keep the body extra puffy and add a little round beak tip. A short, chubby body with a long neck looks sweet and baby-like.
Why does a flamingo stand on one leg?
Flamingos often rest on one leg to help keep their body warm. Tucking the other leg up is a fun detail to add to your drawing.
