Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Wide dome head
Draw a wide, soft dome shape with a flat, rounded bottom, like a loaf of bread. Leave a small gap at the top, and add little bumps on each cheek so it looks round and squishy.
Step 3: Two small ears
Draw a small half circle on each side of the gap at the top of the head. Each ear curves up and back down to meet the head line.
Step 4: The hat band
On top of the head, in the middle, draw a long rounded rectangle, like a fluffy pill. This is the white fur trim of the Santa hat.
Step 5: Hat top and pom-pom
Start at the left side of the band and draw a curved hat that bends over to the right. Finish with a little circle at the tip for the pom-pom.
Step 6: Two small eyes
Draw two small dots in the middle of the face. Keep them wide apart and at the same height.
Step 7: Nose and mouth
Between the eyes and a bit lower, draw a small rounded nose. Under it, add a tiny curvy mouth, like a little wavy line.
Step 8: Top of the tummy
Under the head, draw a curved line like an upside-down U for the top of the body. It tucks a little under the chin.
Step 9: Two oval feet
At the bottom of the body, draw one wide oval on the left and one on the right. They stick out to the sides like little paddles.
Step 10: The gingerbread cookie
In the middle of the tummy, draw a small head for the cookie with a tiny smile, then a tall body below it. Add curved arms on each side and two little legs at the bottom.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Christmas hamster
- Draw the head dome first and make it wider than you think. The wide cheeks are what make the hamster look so round and cute.
- Draw the hat band as a long pill shape before you add the hat top, so the hat sits flat on the head and does not slide off.
- The gingerbread cookie is the trickiest part. Draw its small head first, then the body, then the arms and legs last.
