How to draw the Princess and the Pea step by step

How to Draw the Princess and the Pea · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Head, face and shoulders

Draw a round head with a little bump on each side of the top. Add two dots for eyes, a small curved smile, and a curved line on each side below the head for her shoulders. Then draw three columns of short up-and-down dashes underneath, three dashes in each column.

  2. Step 2: Crown and hair band

On top of her head, draw a small zigzag crown with pointy peaks. Then draw a wavy line across her forehead for her hair.

  3. Step 3: Top mattress and pillow

Draw a long, flat rounded rectangle across her shoulders for the top mattress. Add a small rounded pillow on the right end, and draw short curved lines down from each end of the mattress. On the right side, add five short dashes in a column, spaced evenly.

  4. Step 4: Two middle mattresses

Under the top mattress, draw two more long rounded rectangles, one below the other. Let them stretch a little wider than the one above so the pile looks soft and wobbly.

  5. Step 5: Bottom mattress

At the bottom of the pile, draw one more long rounded rectangle to finish the stack. Keep the corners soft and round, like the others.

  6. Step 6: The bed frame

Below the stack, draw a long, thin rounded rectangle for the bed. Add one short straight line hanging down from each end for the legs.

  7. Step 7: The ladder

Beside the stack, draw two long lines leaning a little to one side. Make them reach the short dashes you drew before, so the dashes become the rungs of the ladder.

  8. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing the Princess and the Pea

  • Draw the top mattress first, then copy its shape for the others. Long sausage shapes with round ends are easier than they look.
  • Let each mattress stick out a bit more or less than the one above, so the pile looks soft and wobbly.
  • For the ladder, space the short rungs evenly first, then draw the two long side lines to meet their ends.
