Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The round body
Draw one big circle in the middle of your page. This is Mike's whole head and body in one round shape.
Step 3: Two little horns
On the top of the circle, draw a small curved horn on the left and one on the right. Each one starts on the circle, curves up to a pointy tip, and comes back down to the circle.
Step 4: The big eye
Draw a round circle for his one eye, a little above the center of the body. Fill it in solid so it looks like a big dark pupil.
Step 5: The wide smile
Below the eye, draw a wide, gently curved line for the top of the mouth. Then draw a deeper curve underneath that joins both ends, so the smile looks like a bowl.
Step 6: Left arm
On the left side of the body, draw a long rounded arm shape like a teardrop that hangs down. Add a small bump near the bottom for his hand.
Step 7: Right arm
Do the same on the right side so the arms match. Draw a long teardrop arm with a small bump for the hand.
Step 8: Two stubby feet
Under the body, draw two short legs going down, one on the left and one on the right. At the bottom of each leg, draw a flat, rounded shoe shape that points outward.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc.
- Draw the big circle lightly first. If it looks lumpy, go over it again slowly, or trace around a bowl or a lid to get it round.
- The smile is the trickiest part. Make the top line only slightly curved and the bottom line much deeper, so it looks like a bowl.
- Keep both arms and both feet about the same size. Check that the left and right sides match by looking at the whole page.
