Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head and hair outline
Draw a big rounded dome for the top of the head, then let the lines curve down on both sides like short bob hair, ending in a little curl inward at the bottom. Add a short flat line in the middle at the bottom to close the chin area.
Step 3: Cat ear and bow
On the top left of the head, draw a small pointed ear shaped like a rounded triangle. On the top right, draw a bow with two loops, a little circle in the middle, and a ribbon tail hanging down.
Step 4: Glasses and cheeks
Draw two big circles side by side in the middle of the face. Then draw one wide curve that starts at the left hair, swoops under both circles like a smile, and ends at the right hair to make the cheeks.
Step 5: Big round eyes
Inside each circle, draw a big dot in the middle and color it in solid. Keep both dots the same size.
Step 6: Brows, nose and smile
Above the glasses, draw two little curved eyebrows. Between the circles add a tiny line for the nose bridge, then finish with a small smile underneath.
Step 7: Collar and dress
Under the head, draw a small curve for the collar. Then draw a dress shaped like a trapezoid, with a flat bottom that is a little wider than the top.
Step 8: Little arms
On each side of the dress, draw a short, rounded arm like a small leaf shape. Start each one at the shoulder and curve it back in near the dress.
Step 9: Two little feet
Under the bottom of the dress, draw two small rounded shapes like upside-down U's. Leave a gap between them so they look like two feet.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing D.W. from Arthur
- Draw the two glasses circles at the same size. Lightly sketch a line across the middle of the face first so both circles sit at the same height.
- The bow is the trickiest part. Start with the little circle in the middle, then add a loop on each side like butterfly wings.
- Make the eye dots big and dark, and keep them in the middle of the circles so both eyes match.
