How to draw Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia step by step

How to Draw Aslan From The Chronicles of Narnia · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw a big, round shape in the middle of your page, a little wider than it is tall. Give the top a small dip in the middle, like a soft heart shape.

  3. Step 3: Two round ears

Add a small half circle on each top corner of the face. Start and stop each ear right where it touches the face, so the ears look like they tuck behind the head.

  4. Step 4: The fluffy mane

Draw a big, bumpy line all the way around the face and ears, with little pointy tufts as you go. Start at the top with a spiky crest, curve down both sides, and make a zigzag fluffy point under the chin. Then, from the bottom left of the mane, draw the front leg going down with a rounded foot.

  5. Step 5: Eyes, nose and mouth

Draw two round dots for eyes, side by side in the middle of the face. Add a small triangle nose with a rounded bottom between and below them. Under the nose, draw two tiny curves that meet in the middle for a calm mouth.

  6. Step 6: Chest and front legs

Draw a curved line from the first leg across to the middle for the chest. Then draw two more legs beside the first one, each with a rounded foot at the bottom.

  7. Step 7: Back and back leg

Start at the right side of the mane and draw a long curve down for the lion's back. Keep going down into a straight back leg on the right, with a rounded foot at the bottom.

  8. Step 8: The tail tuft

Draw a small oval tuft on the right side of the back leg, and color it in solid.

  9. Step 9: Little toes

Add two short lines at the front of each paw to make the toes. Start each line at the bottom edge of the paw and go up a little way.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia

  • Draw the face first, then wrap the mane around it. The mane is the trickiest part, so keep the line loose and add the little pointy tufts one at a time.
  • Let the ears tuck behind the face. Stop each ear line right where it meets the face, so they look like they sit behind it.
  • Draw the legs straight and a bit apart, then add rounded feet. Keep the front legs about the same length so Aslan stands steady.

Questions about drawing Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia

What shapes do I need to draw Aslan?

You need a round shape for the face, two small half circles for the ears, and a bumpy line for the mane. The legs are simple tubes with rounded feet, and the tail tuft is a small oval.

How do I make the mane look fluffy?

Draw the mane outline with small bumps and pointy tufts instead of one smooth line. Make the tufts a little different sizes so it looks soft and natural.

How do I make Aslan look calm?

Keep the eyes as simple round dots and the mouth as two small, tiny curves. Keeping the face simple helps him look steady and calm.
