Yosemite Sam is a tiny, grumpy cowboy with a huge mustache, and that makes him fun to draw. He is built from simple shapes: a big round body, a wide curvy hat, two dots for eyes, and a swoopy mustache. If you can draw a circle and a few curves, you can draw Sam.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Cowboy hat
Draw a wide, wavy brim that curls up at both ends. Then add the tall crown on top, with a little dip in the middle.
Step 3: Round body outline
Draw a slightly bumpy line across the bottom of the hat for the top of the body. From each end, curve down and around into a big round shape, and stop just before the two sides meet at the bottom.
Step 4: The eyes
Draw two small filled-in dots for eyes, side by side in the middle of the face.
Step 5: Grumpy eyebrows
Add a short slanted line above each eye. Make each one start higher on the outside and slope down toward the nose, so Sam looks cranky.
Step 6: The big mustache
Under the eyes, draw a wide mustache with two curvy bumps that meet in a little dip in the middle. Curl the ends out, then close the bottom with a swooping line.
Step 7: Little arms
On each side of the body, draw a long rounded loop like a bean. Start at the side of the circle and curve down and back in to touch the body.
Step 8: Legs and boots
Draw two short legs going down from the bottom of the body. End each leg with a rounded boot that points outward.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Yosemite Sam
- Draw the hat first and let the brim sit over the top of the body. Start the body line right at the hat so it looks like the hat sits on top.
- The mustache is the trickiest part. Draw two bumps that meet in the middle first, then add the curled ends and the bottom line.
- Keep the eyebrows slanted down toward the nose. If they slant the other way, Sam will look surprised instead of grumpy.
