How to draw Hatchimals step by step

How to Draw Hatchimals · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: Top of the egg

Draw a big curved dome, like the top of an egg, round and a little pointy at the peak. Stop on each side about halfway down and leave the bottom open.

  3. Step 3: Bowl-shaped shell

Start a little below the left end of the dome, curve down and around like a bowl, and come back up on the right side. Leave a small gap between the bowl and the dome.

  4. Step 4: Two round eyes

Draw two small filled-in dots in the upper middle of the body, side by side with a gap between them.

  5. Step 5: Tiny wavy mouth

Between the eyes and a little below them, draw a tiny wavy line, like a little squiggle, for a happy mouth.

  6. Step 6: Little wings

On each side, where the dome meets the bowl, draw a small curly wing that sticks out like a mitten. Start at the body's edge, curve out and around, then come back in. Add a tiny short mark near the right wing.

  7. Step 7: Curved feet

Draw two curved hook shapes in the lower middle, one on each side of the center, like little C shapes opening toward each other. Add a tiny short mark beside the right one.

  8. Step 8: Wavy shell edge

Draw a bumpy, wavy line across the middle of the shell, from the left wing to the right wing. Make a small point in the center, with soft bumps going out to each side.

  9. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Hatchimals

  • Draw the egg top first and the bowl second, so the two curves line up at the sides without crossing each other.
  • Make the two eyes about the same size by drawing one first, then using it as a guide for the other one. Leave about one eye's width between them.
  • The wavy shell edge is the trickiest part. Draw the pointy middle first, then add the bumps on each side so both halves match.

How to color your Hatchimals drawing

Try soft pastel colors like pale yellow, mint, and lavender for the egg, and a darker shade for the shell. For a creative twist, give the egg bright polka dots or a rainbow of stripes.

Hatchimals fun fact for kids

Real baby chicks hatch by using a tiny, hard spot on the tip of their beak, called an egg tooth, to tap and crack the shell from the inside. The egg tooth falls off a few days after hatching.

Questions about drawing Hatchimals

What shapes do I need to draw a Hatchimal?

You need a dome for the top of the egg, a bowl shape for the shell, two filled dots for eyes, and some curvy lines for the mouth, wings and feet.

How do I make my Hatchimal look cuter?

Make the eyes round and the mouth tiny. Keep the eyes close to the middle of the body for an extra cute look.

How do I draw the cracked shell?

Draw a bowl shape at the bottom of the egg, then add a wavy line across the top of the bowl. The wavy line makes it look like the shell just cracked open.
