A wizard staff looks magical, but it is built from simple shapes: a big circle, a curved U, a shield shape, and a long thin handle. Little diamond sparkles around it make it look like it is glowing with spells. It is a great drawing for practicing round shapes and smooth curves.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Top of the orb
Start at the top by drawing the upper half of a big circle, like the top of a round crystal ball. Stop on each side where the circle starts to curve inward, and leave the bottom open.
Step 3: The curved holder
Draw a big curved shape like a letter U that wraps around the bottom of the orb. Start from each side of the orb, swoop down and around, and stop with a small gap at the bottom.
Step 4: The cradle inside
Inside the U, draw a smaller rounded shape like a shield or a heart. Its top edge is a gentle curve under the orb, the two sides curl up a little at the top, and the bottom comes to a soft point.
Step 5: The long handle
From the gap at the bottom of the U, draw two lines going down, a little apart. Let them squeeze together and finish with a rounded tip, like a long thin leaf.
Step 6: Shine and handle details
Draw a short curved line near the top of the orb to make it look shiny. Then draw a short curved line across the handle like a ribbon, and a small bent line inside the lower handle.
Step 7: Top sparkles
Draw two little sparkles high up, one on each side of the staff. Each one is a small diamond shape with rounded corners and a tiny diamond hole in the middle.
Step 8: Lower sparkles
Add two more sparkles lower down, one on each side. Make them the same small diamond shape as the first two, and place them at different heights.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a wizard staff
- Draw the top of the circle first and keep it light, so the U-shaped holder can wrap neatly around it. The U is the trickiest part, so draw each side separately and stop before the sides meet at the bottom.
- For the inside shield shape, start with the top curve and then draw the two sides coming down to a soft point. Try to make both sides match.
- Make each sparkle a small diamond with rounded corners, then add a tiny diamond inside for the hole. Try placing them at different heights.
