A vet is a fun drawing because the character is mostly made of friendly, simple shapes. You start with a big oval head, add a loop for the ponytail, and build a tall body with two skinny oval arms. A little puppy tucked in the coat makes it clear this is an animal doctor.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The big round head
Draw a large oval for the head, a little wider than it is tall. Leave plenty of room below it for the body.
Step 3: Hair and ponytail
Draw a wavy line across the top of the head for the bangs. Then add a round loop on the left side that touches the head for the ponytail.
Step 4: A happy face
Add two small dots for eyes, side by side in the middle of the face. Draw a little curved smile between and below them.
Step 5: Shoulders and outer arms
Under the head, draw a wide, flat line for the shoulders with a small dip in the middle. From each end, curve a long line down for the outside of each arm.
Step 6: Inside of the arms
Draw a long curved line inside each outer arm line, so each arm looks like a tall, skinny oval. Start at the shoulder and end near the bottom.
Step 7: Puppy, coat and tail
Between the arms, draw a round puppy face on the left with two dot eyes and a nose, and a short belt line across the coat. Add a few small dots and a little oval near the top right, and a curly tail sticking out on the right.
Step 8: Wavy coat bottom
Draw a wavy line across the bottom of the coat on the right side, under the puppy and the belt. Let it end near the right arm.
Step 9: Two round shoes
At the bottom, draw a flat oval for each shoe. Make them the same size and set them side by side, just under the coat.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a vet
- Draw the head oval first and keep it large. The body is much narrower, so leave a good gap below the chin.
- The puppy is the trickiest part. Start with a simple circle for its face, then add two dots and a small nose.
- Draw the two arms as tall ovals and make them about the same length. If one looks off, trace the line again lightly until it matches.

How to color your vet drawing
Try a white or light blue coat, brown hair, and a golden or spotted puppy. For a creative twist, give the puppy a bright collar color of your choice.
Vet fun fact for kids
Veterinarians, or vets, care for animals of all kinds, from pet cats and dogs to horses, birds and even fish. Many vets use a stethoscope to listen to an animal's heartbeat, just like a doctor does for people.
Questions about drawing a vet
What shapes do I need to draw a vet?
You need a big oval for the head, a loop for the ponytail, and two tall ovals for the arms. A circle makes the puppy's face, and flat ovals make the shoes.
How do I make my vet look cuter?
Make the head extra big and keep the eyes small and wide apart. A gentle smile and a cuddly puppy in the coat add lots of charm.
How do I draw the puppy with the vet?
