How to Draw a Sheep (Easy Step by Step)
A sheep is a friendly drawing to try because it is mostly round, puffy shapes. You will build it from a cloud-shaped body, an oval head, two leaf-shaped ears and four skinny legs. Two dots and a smile on the face and a few curved lines in the wool finish the cozy look.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The fluffy body
Draw a big cloud shape for the woolly body. Make the outline from lots of little bumps, and leave a gap on the lower left where the head will go.
Step 3: The head
On the lower left, draw a tall oval for the face that overlaps the gap in the body. Add a few small curly bumps along the top for the woolly tuft of hair.
Step 4: The ears
Draw a small pointy leaf shape sticking out on each side of the head. Start each ear on the side of the face and curve it out and back to the face.
Step 5: Face and belly line
Add two small dots for eyes and a tiny curved smile on the face. Then draw a bumpy line from the chin along the bottom of the body to the right side to finish the wool.
Step 6: The four legs
Under the belly line, draw four skinny rectangles with rounded bottoms, with the tops joining the wool. Draw the three left legs about the same height, and make the right leg a bit taller.
Step 7: Curly wool swirls
Inside the body, draw three short curved lines that look like little rainbows. They show the curls of soft wool.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a sheep
- The cloud body is the trickiest part. Draw it in short bumpy arcs, lifting your pencil between bumps, instead of trying to make one long wiggly line.
- Draw the head so it overlaps the front of the body, and stop the wool outline where it touches the head. That makes the sheep look like it is peeking out in front.
- Keep the legs the same width. Draw the first leg, then match the others to it so they all end on the same ground line.

How to color your sheep drawing
Try soft cream or light gray for the wool, with a pink or tan face and ears. For a creative twist, make a rainbow sheep by coloring each wool bump a different color.
Sheep fun fact for kids
A sheep's wool keeps growing, so farmers shear it off, usually once a year, to keep the sheep cool and comfortable.
