Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The big round head
Draw a big rounded shape for the head, with a flat-ish top and sides that curve in at the bottom. Leave a small gap at the bottom center where the neck will go.
Step 3: The headband
Draw a curved line across the top of the head, from one side to the other, like an upside-down smile. It makes a band that sits above the forehead.
Step 4: Happy face
Draw two little upside-down U shapes for happy closed eyes. Then draw a small open mouth under them, shaped like a tiny bowl.
Step 5: Shirt and collar
Under the head, draw a short wavy line for the collar with a little bow shape in the middle. Then draw a box with slightly curved sides and a bottom for the shirt.
Step 6: Two arms
Draw a skinny leaf shape sticking out low on the left side of the shirt, and finish it with a small circle for a hand. Then draw another skinny leaf shape on the right side, slanting up and out.
Step 7: The maraca
At the end of the raised arm, draw a small circle for the hand. Draw a short straight handle going up from it, and on top draw a round ball with a little curved shape inside.
Step 8: Shoes
Under the bottom of the shirt, draw two short lines going down. At the bottom of each, draw a flat oval shoe, with the two shoes touching in the middle.
Step 9: Curl and music notes
Next to the left side of the head, draw a wavy curl of hair. Then draw two little music notes floating nearby, each with a filled-in round dot and a curvy stick on top.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid singing
- Draw the head nice and big first. The small body looks cute when it is much smaller than the head.
- The raised arm is the trickiest part. Draw the leaf shape slanting up, then add the hand circle at the end before you draw the maraca handle.
- Draw each music note as a filled-in dot first, then add the curvy stick so they line up.
