How to draw a heart with wings step by step

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The heart

Start with a big heart in the middle of your paper. Draw two round bumps at the top that dip down in the middle, then curve both sides down to a point at the bottom.

  3. Step 3: The left wing

On the left side of the heart, draw a wing that starts at the heart's edge and sweeps up and out. Then bring the bottom edge back in to the heart with a few soft, rounded feathers.

  4. Step 4: The right wing

Now draw the matching wing on the right side. Start at the heart's edge, sweep up and out, and finish with a few rounded feathers along the bottom.

  5. Step 5: Eyes and smile

Inside the heart, draw two small dots for eyes, side by side. Then draw a small curved smile below and between them, like a tiny bowl.

  6. Step 6: Top sparkles

In the empty space above the wings, draw a plus sign on each side. Make one short line going up and down, then cross it with a line going side to side.

  7. Step 7: Bottom sparkles

Add two more plus signs low on the page, one on each side of the pointed bottom of the heart. Cross two short lines to make each one.

  8. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a heart with wings

  • Draw the heart first and lightly. Make the two top bumps the same size so both wings can sit evenly on each side.
  • The wings are the trickiest part. Draw the long top curve first, then add the rounded feathers along the bottom one at a time.
  • Draw the left wing and the right wing at the same height. Look at where one wing starts on the heart, then start the other one at the same spot.
