How to Draw a Cabinet (Easy Step by Step)
A cabinet is a fun first furniture drawing because it is built almost entirely from rectangles. You will use tall rectangles for the doors, a long flat one for the top, and a round vase to finish it off. Once you can draw this one, you can turn it into a wardrobe, a bookcase, or a kitchen cupboard.

Step 1: Sides and bottom
Draw two tall lines going straight down, side by side. Join their bottom ends with a straight line across, so it looks like a tall letter U.
Step 2: The top slab
Across the top of the two tall lines, draw a long, flat rectangle with rounded corners. Make it a little wider than the cabinet so it sticks out on both sides.
Step 3: The left foot
Under the bottom line, near the left corner, draw a short foot that is wider at the top and narrower at the bottom, like a tiny cup.
Step 4: The right door
Inside the frame, on the right side, draw a tall, thin rectangle that almost reaches the top and the bottom. Leave a small gap between it and the right side of the cabinet.
Step 5: Two round knobs
Draw two small circles in the middle of the cabinet, one on each side of the center. Put a tiny dot inside each circle and join them with a very short line.
Step 6: Left door and right foot
Draw a tall rectangle on the left side, the same size as the right door, so the doors sit side by side. Then draw a second foot under the right corner to match the first one.
Step 7: The vase
On top of the slab, draw a round, plump vase shape sitting on it. Give it a short, narrow neck and a flat rim at the top.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a cabinet
- Draw the two doors the same height and width so they match.
- Make the top slab wider than the cabinet body. That little overhang makes it look real.
- Draw both feet the same size, one near each corner, so the cabinet stands evenly.
- For the vase, make the body round and plump, then add the narrow neck and flat rim on top.

Try warm wood colors like brown and orange for the cabinet, and a bright blue or red for the vase. You could also add stripes or flowers on the vase, or make each door a different color.
Cabinet fun fact for kids
The word cabinet once meant a small private room. Later it came to mean a cupboard with doors, and people used them to keep their treasures safe.
