How to draw a birdhouse step by step

How to Draw a Birdhouse · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Walls of the house

Draw two tall lines standing side by side. Join them at the bottom with a flat line, like the letter U. Leave the top open for now.

  2. Step 2: The pointy roof

Draw a big triangle on top of the walls. Make its flat bottom line stick out a little past the walls on both sides.

  3. Step 3: The pole

Draw a small, narrow rectangle hanging down from the bottom middle of the house. This is the pole that holds the birdhouse up.

  4. Step 4: The round door

Draw a big circle in the middle of the house for the door. Then draw a smaller circle inside it.

  5. Step 5: Perch and bird face

Draw a short line down from the bottom of the big circle, then add a flat line across it, like the letter T. Inside the small circle, add two tiny dots for eyes and a little beak.

  6. Step 6: The little heart

Draw a heart above the door. Start with two small bumps at the top and bring the sides down to a point.

  7. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a birdhouse

  • Draw the roof wider than the walls so it hangs over the sides like a real roof.
  • Draw the big circle first, then the small circle inside it, and try to keep an even gap all the way around.
  • Make the heart small and add it last, so it fits in the space between the roof and the door.

Birdhouse fun fact for kids

Small birds like bluebirds, chickadees and wrens really do nest in birdhouses. The size of the round door matters: a small hole lets small birds in and keeps bigger birds out.
