Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The egg
Draw a big egg shape that is rounder at the bottom and a little pointier at the top. Make it fill most of your page so there is room for the baby inside.
Step 3: The baby's head
Inside the egg, draw a wide, soft dome for the top of the head, starting on the left about halfway up the egg and ending on the right. Let the sides curve down with a small bump and stop, leaving the bottom of the head open.
Step 4: The two eyes
Draw two round dots in the middle of the head, side by side with a gap between them. Color them in solid black.
Step 5: The tiny smile
Between the eyes and a little below them, draw a small wavy smile like a tiny letter w. Keep it short and sweet.
Step 6: Cracks and paws
Start at the left edge of the egg and draw a zigzag crack going down and in toward the head. Add a small scalloped bump under the head for a paw, then do the same on the right side, with the crack going out to the egg's edge.
Step 7: The shell point
Between the two paws, draw a pointy V shape for the broken piece of shell in front. Connect each end of the V to the inside of a paw.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a baby crocodile
- Draw the egg first and keep your lines light, then fit the head inside it so the baby is not too big or too small.
- The zigzag cracks are the trickiest part. Make the points sharp and keep both sides about the same height so the shell looks even.
- Place the eyes wide apart and the smile small and low between them. That is what makes the baby look sweet.

Baby crocodile fun fact for kids
Baby crocodiles have a tiny hard bump on the tip of their snout called an egg tooth. They use it to break out of the egg, and it falls off a few weeks later.
