Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head and wattle
Draw a big circle in the middle of your paper for the head. Then add a small rounded bump hanging from the bottom, like a little drop, for the wattle.
Step 3: The middle feather
Above the head, draw a tall leaf shape with a rounded top. Its two sides start at the top of the head and lean up to meet in a curve.
Step 4: Feathers beside it
Add a leaf-shaped feather on each side of the middle one. Start each at the head, lean it outward, and make the tops round.
Step 5: Wider side feathers
Draw two more feathers, one on the left and one on the right, next to the last ones. They lean out even further and make the fan wider.
Step 6: The bottom feathers
At each side of the head, draw a big rounded feather with a flat bottom edge. The flat edge starts at the head and runs straight out.
Step 7: Eyes and beak
Draw two round dots for eyes in the middle of the face. Under them, draw a small upside-down triangle for the beak.
Step 8: Center feather lines
Draw one long straight line down the middle of the tall feather. Then add a slanted line inside each feather next to it.
Step 9: Outer feather lines
Finish the fan with one long line inside each of the four outer feathers. Point each line toward the head, like sun rays.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a turkey face
- Draw the head circle first and lightly, so you can fit all the feathers around it without crowding.
- Draw the middle feather first, then add the others in pairs so both sides match.
- Draw the lines inside the feathers last, and point them all toward the head so the tail looks like a fan.

How to color your turkey face drawing
Try brown for the head, then red, orange, and yellow for the feathers, with an orange beak and a red wattle. For a twist, give every feather a different color, like a rainbow turkey.
Turkey face fun fact for kids
Male turkeys fan out their tail feathers to show off, and the fleshy flap under the beak is called a wattle. A turkey's wattle and head can change color when the bird gets excited.
