Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The head
Draw a big round oval for the head, a little wider than it is tall. Leave a gap at the bottom where the neck will go, so the two ends curl in a little.
Step 3: Headband and antennae
Draw a curved band across the top of the head from one side to the other, like a hairband. Then add two curved sticks rising from the band, each ending in a small curl.
Step 4: Face and body
Add two small dots for eyes and a little curved smile. Under the head, draw a curved collar line and a box for the body with a line down the middle and a line across the bottom. Finish with a short wavy line on each side for the start of the skirt.
Step 5: Arms and hands
Draw a long curved line down each side of the body for the arms. Finish each arm with a small circle for the hand.
Step 6: The big wings
Draw a large rounded wing on each side, tucked behind the head and arms. Start near the neck, curve out wide, and sweep back in at the bottom.
Step 7: The feet
Under the skirt, draw two flat ovals side by side for the feet. Add a short line at the top of each one to connect it to the skirt.
Step 8: Wing spots
Draw round circles on the wings like ladybug spots. Make a bigger circle on the outer part of each wing and a small one near each shoulder.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid in a ladybug costume
- Draw the head first and make it big. The body and wings are tucked around it, so a roomy head makes everything else fit.
- Draw the arms before the wings. The wings go behind the arms, so stop each wing line when it reaches an arm.
- Add the spots last and keep them different sizes. Big circles on the wings and small ones near the shoulders look more like a real ladybug than spots that are all the same.

Kid in a ladybug costume fun fact for kids
Many ladybugs can release a smelly yellow liquid from their leg joints when they feel threatened, and their bright red color warns birds that they taste bad.
Questions about drawing a kid in a ladybug costume
What shapes do I need to draw a kid in a ladybug costume?
You mostly need circles and ovals: a big oval for the head, two large rounded wings, small circles for the spots and hands, and flat ovals for the feet. A box makes the body.
How do I make my ladybug costume look cuter?
Make the head extra big, keep the eyes small and wide apart, and add a curved smile. Round, chunky spots on the wings also help.
How do I draw the antennae?
Draw two gently curved lines rising from the headband, leaning slightly outward, and finish each one with a small curl. Try to make both the same length so they match.
