Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The big head
Draw a big wide oval near the top of the page, a little flatter on the bottom like a rounded egg. This is the kid's whole head, so make it nice and big.
Step 3: Widow's peak hairline
Inside the top of the head, draw a curvy line from one side to the other. Make it look like two gentle hills that meet in a small dip in the middle.
Step 4: Tall pointy collar
On the left side of the head, draw a four-sided flap that sticks out and down from the cheek. On the right side, draw a line that goes down from the cheek to match.
Step 5: The little body
Under the head, draw two straight lines going down for the sides of the body. Close it with a gently curved line across the bottom, like a short rectangle.
Step 6: Start of the cape
On the lower left, draw a slanted line going down to a sharp corner. Then draw a short flat line from that corner to the right.
Step 7: Arms and hands
On the left side of the body, draw a long skinny oval for the arm, with a small loop at the bottom for the hand. On the right side, draw a leaf-shaped oval for the other arm.
Step 8: Two oval shoes
Under the body, draw two flat ovals side by side so they almost touch. These are the shoes.
Step 9: Eyes and mouth
Draw two round dots for the eyes, spaced apart in the middle of the face. Under them, draw a tiny wavy mouth.
Step 10: The bow tie
Under the chin, draw a small bow tie shape across the top of the body. Make it two little triangles that meet in the middle.
Step 11: Lantern and legs
At the bottom right, draw a rounded jar shape with a small loop on top for the lantern, and a short handle reaching toward the shoes. Then add two short legs between the body and the shoes, plus a few tiny marks for details.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid in a vampire costume
- Draw the head big and leave plenty of room under it. The body is small, so it is easier to fit it in if the head is not too low on the page.
- The widow's peak is the trickiest line. Draw two gentle hills that meet in a small dip in the middle, and keep both sides about the same size.
- Keep the face simple: two round dots for eyes and a tiny wavy mouth. Small is cuter than big here.
