How to draw a goblin step by step

How to Draw a Goblin · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The big round head

Start with a big wide oval for the head. Make it a little wider than it is tall, like an egg lying on its side.

  3. Step 3: The pointy ears

On each side of the head, draw a long pointy ear that sweeps out and up like a leaf. Start each ear at the edge of the head and make both ears about the same size.

  4. Step 4: Hair and top tuft

Draw a zigzag line across the top of the face for spiky hair, going up, down, up, down. Then add a small curved tuft that sticks up from the top of the head.

  5. Step 5: The goofy face

Add two small round dots for eyes and a little rounded triangle for the nose. Then draw a wide smile low on the face with a few little teeth showing.

  6. Step 6: The tunic body

Under the head, draw a body shaped like a box that gets a little wider at the bottom. Add a V shape at the top for the collar.

  7. Step 7: Arms, hands and legs

Draw a curved arm on each side of the body with a small curl or circle at the end for a hand. Then add two short straight lines under the tunic for legs.

  8. Step 8: Pocket and loot bag

Draw a small square pocket on the chest. Then draw a round, lumpy bag with a tiny loop on top, hanging from the hand on the right.

  9. Step 9: Big feet

At the bottom of the two legs, draw a wide flat oval for each big goblin foot. Let the two ovals touch in the middle.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a goblin

  • Draw the ears after the head so they can start right on the edge of the oval and curve out to a sharp point.
  • The zigzag hair is the trickiest part. Make a row of points that go up, down, up, down, and try to keep them about the same height.
  • Draw the two feet as flat ovals that touch in the middle, and leave a little space above them for the short legs.

How to color your goblin drawing

Try green skin, a brown tunic, and a golden bag of treasure. For a creative twist, color the goblin in rainbow stripes or give it polka dots instead of a plain green face.

Goblin fun fact for kids

The word goblin comes from the Old French word gobelin, and people have been telling stories about goblins in English for hundreds of years.

Questions about drawing a goblin

What shapes do I need to draw a goblin?

You need a big oval for the head, a box for the body, two long leaf shapes for the ears, and two flat ovals for the feet. A zigzag line makes the hair, and a lumpy round shape makes the bag.

How do I make my goblin look cuter?

Make the head extra big and the eyes small and round. A wide smile with a few little teeth makes it look silly and friendly instead of scary.

How do I make the ears look pointy?

Start at the side of the head, draw a curved line out to a sharp tip, then curve back in a second line to meet the head. It should look like a long leaf.
