Step 1: The star
Draw a big star with five points. Start at the top point, zigzag down and out to each point, then close the shape. Round off the tips a little so it looks friendly.
Step 2: The happy face
Inside the middle of the star, add two small round dots for eyes. Draw a little curved smile below and between them.
Step 3: The long tail swoosh
Start at the star's right point and draw a long curve that sweeps up and to the right, ending high near the top of the page.
Step 4: The top tail line
Above the long swoosh, draw a shorter curved line that starts a little above the star and arcs up toward the right, like a rainbow.
Step 5: The lower tail line
Below the long swoosh, start just right of the star's point and draw a third curve that sweeps up toward the right.
Step 6: Top sparkles
On the left side of the page, draw two small sparkles, one higher and one lower. Make each one a diamond with rounded corners.
Step 7: Bottom sparkles
On the right side near the bottom, draw two more diamond sparkles the same way. Make them different sizes so the sky twinkles.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a comet
- Draw the star's two side points first, level with each other, so the star does not lean over.
- Draw the three tail lines in the same direction, and let them curve the same way so they look like they are moving together.
- Draw each sparkle as a small diamond with rounded corners, and make some bigger than others.
