Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Bowl and left stem
Near the bottom of the page, draw a long straight line going across for the rim. Curve a line down from each end toward the middle to make a wide bowl, then draw a short straight line down from the bottom of the left curve.
Step 3: Stem and foot
Draw a second short straight line going down on the right to finish the thin stem. Then add a curved foot that spreads out on each side, closed with a flat line along the bottom.
Step 4: The big scoop
Start at the left end of the rim and curve up in a rounded hump. Do the same on the right side, curving up from the rim and bending in toward the middle, and leave a gap at the top between the two sides.
Step 5: The top scoop
Draw a smaller circle sitting on top of the big scoop, right over the gap. Go all the way around to close the circle.
Step 6: Sauce drips
Across the middle of the small circle, draw a wavy line with round bumps, like melting sauce. Add a short line dripping down in the middle.
Step 7: The cherry
On top of the small scoop, draw a tiny circle for the cherry. Add a little curly stem that swirls up from the top.
Step 8: The wafer stick
On the right side, draw a long, thin rectangle that leans out from behind the big scoop. Add a short slanted line across it to make a stripe.
Step 9: A happy face
In the middle of the bowl, draw two little dots for eyes. Between them and a bit lower, draw a small curved smile.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an ice cream sundae
- Draw the bowl rim as one straight line first. Then both sides of the bowl have a clear place to start and end.
- Let the small scoop sit over the gap in the big scoop. Draw the small circle all the way around so it looks like it sits in front.
- Make the sauce a wiggly line with round bumps. Add one short drip in the middle so it looks like it is melting.
